Scammers Pretending To Collect For Montville Township Schools

Montville schools called the scam exceptionally convincing, but are warning the community to never donate through third-parties.

MONTVILLE, NJ — A new scam is targeting the Montville community: scammers are pretending to collect money on behalf of the Montville Township Schools, something the district does not participate in.

A company called "SportsMedia Advertising" has been sending mail, e-mails and/or making phone calls they claim are on behalf of public school programs. The calls come from a 682 area code.

"Please note, this scam is very convincing. The scammers are using the actual names of coaches and advisors. Please exercise caution and report all requests for money, advertising, and/or sponsorship," school officials said.
