On Sunday, May 20, Washington College—a private, independent college of liberal arts and sciences located in historic Chestertown on Maryland's Eastern Shore—held its 229th commencement ceremonies. The following student was recognized for academic achievements and received a diploma as a member of the Class of 2012: <a href="http://readabout.me/Lydia-Powell/8K4Z" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Lydia Powell</a> of Moorestown, daughter of Karon Ray, BS, Biology . Washington College was founded in 1782 under the patronage of George Washington and is the first college chartered in the U.S.
