
Moorestown resident Scott F. Cooper has been elected president-elect of the Temple University Alumni Association (TUAA) for the 2012-2014 term. He will serve as president of the TUAA and be a member of Temple University’s Board of Trustees from 2014-2016.
Cooper, who is a partner at Blank Rome LLP and the past president/chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, has long been active with Temple University and other community organizations.
Beginning July 1, Cooper will help support the Executive Committee and the TUAA Board, which is comprised of 54 members representing all of Temple’s 17 schools. During 2012-14, he will work directly with current TUAA President John Campolongo.
Founded in 1927, the TUAA represents Temple University’s 280,000 living alumni in 50 states and more than 163 countries. Its core purpose is to promote and support Temple University by fostering lifelong global engagement with alumni, students and the Temple family. The TUAA is the umbrella organization for Temple's school and college alumni associations, the Young Alumni Committee, shared-interest alumni groups and regional alumni clubs. “Temple University has always held a very special place in my heart,” said Cooper. “This is a tremendous honor to be able to give back to the university that gave me so much.”
Cooper had a distinguished academic career at Temple Law School and has been an active member of the Temple University community for nearly 20 years. He received his JD from Temple University School of Law, and while there was the first student to serve as managing editor of the Law Review, be a member of the Moot Court Honor Society (National Champion in Constitutional Law), a starting member of the National Trial Team (runner-up in the National Championships) and graduate with honors. Since graduating, Cooper has served as an adjunct professor at Temple Law School, served on a number of committees and task forces for the TUAA, and has been an active member of the Temple Law Alumni Association.

At Blank Rome, Cooper focuses his practice on litigation and business counseling, and is one of the firm’s leading employment law litigators. He has a diverse client base, representing large publicly traded corporations, start-ups, partnerships, and government entities. In recognition of Cooper’s many professional and civic accomplishments, he has been recognized by Chambers USA as a leader in labor and employment law; was designated as a “Lawyers on the Fast Track” by the Legal Intelligencer; and earlier in his career received the Philadelphia Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” award.
In addition to his busy legal practice, Cooper has a long history of leadership with local and national bar associations. Notably, in 2010 he served as president/chancellor of the 13,500-member Philadelphia Bar Association. He currently serves as a member of the American Bar Association’s National Conference of Bar Presidents Executive Council, and chairs the NCBP Communications Committee.
He is also active in political and local matters, serving in various leadership roles with political organizations, boards and committees. He is an elected Republican committee person in Moorestown, Burlington County, the vice chair of Moorestown’s Ethical Standards Board, a former chair and member of the Moorestown Recreation Advisory Committee, and a member of the Moorestown Soccer Club Board of Directors.
