Three Moorestown Friends School seniors were recently recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Austin Harris (Willingboro), Andrew Jaffe (Voorhees) and Joseph Kiernan (Haddonfield) were named National Merit Scholarship Competition semifinalists. These students are part of a group of approximately 16,000 high school seniors (the top 0.5 percentile of students who took the test) who are now eligible to apply to become finalists.
The 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) served as an initial screen for more than 1.5 million entrants to the National Merit Scholarship Program. Semifinalists are the highest scorers in each of the 50 states and represent less than 1 percent of each state’s high school seniors. National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in April and concluding in July.
