They immediately became active volunteer coaches of their kids’ softball and soccer teams, and they helped with scouting. From there, they went on to serve on other town committees and boards.

They said the spirit of volunteer service was important to them because they both came from homes where their parents had been very active volunteers in their communities.

Both John and Kathy wanted to show their children what the volunteer spirit is, and how it helps make a town a great place to live and work.

Their children are adults now, but John and Kathy are still volunteering because they love the town and the people they’ve met through their activities.

John Logue was born and raised with his brother, Ken and sister, Lori, in Barrington. His parents were very involved in their town, participating in Town Council, Civic League Celebrations Committee, PTA and Church Council.

John Logue’s parents started the 4th of July celebration, including their first fireworks. His mother received Barrington’s Citizen of the Year Award. He graduated from Haddon Heights High School and Rutgers University-Camden.

Kathy Logue was raised in Stratford and has a sister, Maureen, and three brothers - Bob (deceased 4/2021), Jim and Dan. Her father was active in Boy Scouting and her mother was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She graduated second in her class from Sterling High School.

In high school, they were both in Explorer Scouts (co-ed Boy Scouts) and met on a summer camping trip. They were married in 1975 and moved to Newark, DE, where John Logue got his Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the University of Delaware, and Kathy Logue started a banking career.

In May 1978, John Logue got an internship related to his Master’s Degree with the Township of Moorestown. While there, John Logue was appointed Deputy Township Manager/Township Clerk.

They moved to Harding Avenue in Moorestown in 1979, where they still live today. They have three grown children and two grandchildren.

In 2005, she participated in the Make It Moorestown Celebrations Committee, which worked with Moorestown residents/neighborhoods to hold Block Parties and Fireworks, the 4th of July Parade, Winter Festival, and the Halloween Parade.

In 2003-04, she served at the request of Township Council as an Alternate #1 Member of the Moorestown Planning Board.

She has also helped with the Summer Hanging Baskets project on Main Street for several years and watering flower containers at Lenola and Camden avenues every summer.
