Marijuana, Budget, Affordable Housing On Tap For Township Council

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown Council will discuss the budget, redevelopment at the Moorestown Mall, recreational marijuana and affordable housing when it meets Monday night.

Moorestown Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday night. The meeting will be held in-person and virtually. Those attending in person are asked to wear a face covering, but they are not required to.

There will be a public hearing and final vote on the annual proposed ordinance to exceed municipal budget appropriations and establish a cap bank.

The proposal allows the township to increase its budget by 3.5 percent over last year's final appropriations and bank the excess as an appropriation. The increase amounts to $621,163.10 over last year's final appropriations. Read more here: Moorestown Cuts Tax Increase In Proposed Budget

Council will also introduce the following proposed ordinances:

• The adoption of a redevelopment plan for the Moorestown Mall;
• The implementation of the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement, Assistance and Marketplace Modernization Act;
• The establishment of transportation for an affordable housing development known as the Moorestown Family Apartments on Borton Landing Road; and
• The adoption of a financial agreement between the township and Moorestown Family Apartments, LLC.
