Mount Laurel Police Blotter
Police arrest several people for marijuana possession and a man they say reported his car stolen after it had been crashed and abandoned.
Feb. 14
Theft — Police said someone forced open the side door of an R.D. Construction trailer on the 2000 block of Briggs Road and stole hand tools, a generator and lawn equipment, worth a combined $6,400. The theft occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Feb. 10 and 8 a.m. Feb. 14.
Feb. 15
Theft — Someone stole a welder and trailer, valued at a combined $4,797.06, from the parking lot of Inventek Cleaners, on the 100 block of Gaither Drive, sometime between 1 p.m. Feb. 14 and 8 a.m. Feb. 15, police said.
Feb. 16
Burglary (Ramblewood), 10 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. — Police said a burglar walked into a home on the 100 block of Ramblewood Terrace and stole jewelry and a laptop. The residence was unlocked, according to police.
Arrest (drug possession), 4:33 p.m. — Police arrested James P. Arthur, 42, of the 3900 block of Adelaide Drive, for possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) after investigating a motor vehicle collision on the 900 block of Route 73, according to a report. Arthur was released pending a municipal court hearing.
Feb. 17
Arrest (DWI), 1:08 a.m. — Police arrested David Bognar, 44, of the 100 block of Halsey Lane, Marlton, after he was stopped on Beaver Avenue. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.
Burglary (Holiday Village East), 6-9:30 p.m. — A burglar forced their way into a home on the 600 block of South Cascade Drive, causing an estimated $250 in damage, police said. Nothing was reported stolen.
Feb. 18
Arrest (DWI), 12:29 a.m. — Police arrested Jeffrey R. Buckley, 51, of the 6100 block of Normandy Drive, after stopping him for a motor vehicle violation on Normandy Drive, according to a report. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.
Arrest (drug possession), 12:57 p.m. — Police arrested Joshua A. Green, 23, of the unit block of Cherry Lane, Woodbury, Joshny Badu, age 22, of the unit block of Senior Street, New Brunswick, and Andrew J. Quinlan, 20, of the unit block of Riverview Avenue, Thorofare, for possession of marijuana under 50 grams. They were arrested after being stopped on Nixon Drive for a motor vehicle violation, police said, and released pending a municipal court hearing.
Arrest (filing false police report) — Police arrested Richard E. Phipps, 42, of the 600 block of Mount Laurel Road, after discovering his vehicle, which he had reported as stolen, had actually been involved in an accident and abandoned in West Milford on Feb. 17, according to a report. Phipps was charged with filing a false police report and released pending a municipal court hearing.
Arrest (drug possession), 6:53 p.m. — Police arrested Rebecca Jackson, 26, of the unit block of Thorn Hill Lane, Willingboro, for possession of heroin. She was arrested during a suspicious person investigation at Wegman’s on Centerton Road, according to a report, and released pending a municipal court hearing.
Juvenile arrests (drug possession), 9:19 p.m. — Police arrested four Mount Laurel youths, three 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy, in a wooded area off Gaskill Road following an investigation into suspicious activity and charged them with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and underage consumption of alcohol, according to a report. They were each served with juvenile delinquency complaints and released to their parents pending a family court hearing.
Feb. 20
Arrest (DWI), 3:30 a.m. — Police arrested Matthew C. Higman, age 30, of the 300 block of Manor Lane, Marlton, after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Route 73. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing, according to police.
Criminal mischief (Ivy Ridge) — A resident of the unit block of Christopher Mill Drive told police sometime between 12 p.m. Feb. 19 and 10 a.m. Feb. 20 someone knocked the passenger side rear-view mirror off his vehicle, causing $300 in damage.
Theft — Police said someone broke into a company truck from an R.D. Construction work site on Briggs Road and stole rock salt, valued at $400. A storage trailer on the property was also broken into. Power tools, hardware and other equipment, valued at a combined $13,300, were stolen. The incident occurred between 4 p.m. Feb. 19 and approximately 11 a.m. Feb. 20.
Arson (Trotter’s Crossing), 5:45 p.m. — The Mount Laurel Fire Department extinguished a fire in a wooded area adjacent to the Trotter’s Crossing park. An investigation later determined a foot bridge on a walking path had been deliberately set on fire, according to police. The fire caused an estimated $500 damage.
Feb. 21
Criminal mischief (Bridlewood), 1:35-1:45 a.m. — Someone broke three windows of a vehicle on the unit block of Autumnwood Lane, causing about $700 in damage, and stole a radio scanner and alcohol, valued at $166, from inside, police said.
Arrest (DWI), 3:11 a.m. — Police arrested James J. Drummond Jr., 20, of the 100 block of Preakness, after stopping him for a motor vehicle violation on Route 38 and charged him with driving while intoxicated, according to a report. (Removed), 21, of the 2700 block of Riverton Road, Cinnaminson, was also arrested for hindering the police investigation during the motor vehicle stop, police said. Both were released pending a municipal court hearing.
