Murphy Vs. Ciattarelli: How Moorestown Voted
With the race declared for Gov. Phil Murphy with more than 99 percent of the votes counted, here's a look at how Moorestown voted.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — When Republican Jack Ciattarelli visited Moorestown to announce Diane Allen as his running mate in this year’s gubernatorial elections, there was some hope in the party that the announcement would help the GOP nominee both statewide and locally.
Allen, a longtime state legislator who was popular among both Republicans and Democrats, is a graduate of Moorestown High School. How did that translate on Election Day?
With the race declared for Gov. Phil Murphy with more than 99 percent of the votes counted, here's a look at how Moorestown and Burlington County voted.

The voter turnout in Burlington County was 43.63 percent, according to tallies published by the Burlington County Board of Elections as of Monday morning. Of the 354,129 registered voters in the county, 154,490 voted either in-person or by mail. There was a 3.35 percent turnout for early voting.
In Moorestown, 5,761 voters cast their ballots in-person in the race between Ciattarelli and Murphy. Countywide, 152,684 registered voters cast ballots in this year’s gubernatorial elections.

As of Monday morning, it was unclear how many vote-by-mail ballots remained to be counted, but ballots postmarked Nov. 2 were still being accepted as long as they were receive by Nov. 8. The county must still count provisional ballots. The county has until Nov. 20 to submit certified results to the state.
In Burlington County, Murphy and his running mate, Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver received 81,222 votes, compared to 70,511 for Ciattarelli and Allen. In 2017, Murphy and Oliver had 70,453 votes countywide, compared to 52,191 votes for then-Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and her running mate Carlos Rendo.
But among voters who cast their ballots in-person in Moorestown in the 2021 election, Ciattarelli and Allen had 3,084 votes, compared to 2,655 for Murphy and Oliver, according to the voter breakdown posted online by the township clerk. A breakdown of mail-in and provisional voting in the gubernatorial race for Moorestown is not yet available.
By contrast, in 2017, Murphy and Oliver had 3,738 votes to 3,012 votes for Guadagno and Rendo. This includes all votes cast in that election, which came one year after Donald Trump was elected President, and amid a “blue wave” in New Jersey.
Votes continued to be counted on Monday. The most updated results for the Moorestown Council special election has Democrat Quinton Law with 4,534 votes, compared to 4,067 votes for Republican Vick Bobadilla, according to the county.
Jill Fallows Macaluso was the leading vote-getter in the race for three open seats on the Moorestown Public School District Board of Education, with 3,677. Melissa Arcaro Burns was next with 3,317, followed by Cheryl Makopoulos with 3,229. All results remain unofficial.
