Public Hearing On $360K Moorestown Public Works Proposal Monday

MOORESTOWN, NJ — There will be a public hearing and final vote on a proposed bond ordinance to purchase new vehicles for the Moorestown Department of Public Works Monday night.

Moorestown Council will meet at town hall, 111 West Second Street in Moorestown, at 7 p.m. Monday night. There will be a virtual option for those who can’t or don’t wish to attend the meeting in person.

The proposed ordinance calls for the allocation of $360,000, including the borrowing of $342,000 in bonds or notes, for five vehicles for the Department of Public Works.

The Department of Public Works is looking to replace the following vehicles:

  • A 2006 Mack Dump Truck with a plow and spreader, worth about $190,000;
  • A 2003 Ford F-350 Dump Body Truck, worth about $65,000;
  • A 72" Z-Rider Mower, worth about $15,000;
  • A 1997 Ford F-350 pickup truck with plow, worth about $40,000; and
  • A 2000 F-350 pickup truck with plow, worth about $40,000.

There are no proposed ordinances set for introduction, but Moorestown Council will consider two non-consent agenda resolutions.

The first authorizes the township to opt into the examination of the exemption of civil service hiring procedures. The other authorizes the mayor to sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the use of the library book sale room. There are also six items on the consent agenda.

Anyone who attends the meeting in person must wear a mask and follow social distancing protocols. Residents can attend the meeting virtually using the MSTeams client by using any one of the following methods:

2. Go to the township's homepage and click the link for "Upcoming Events," select the meeting you wish to attend; then click on "MS Teams Meeting" link on the right side of the screen; or

3. Go to the township's homepage, and at the top right of the screen, click on "Live Meetings" and then click on the link "Township Council MS Teams Meeting Link" above the search box.

Those without internet access can attend by telephone by dialing 1-201-523-5900 or 1-833-450-2679 (toll free) and then enter Conference ID: 339 411 391 followed by the # sign.

Members of the public participating via MSTeams may participate just the same as if present in person; the mayor will open the floor for public participation in accordance with normal protocol.

The meeting will also be broadcast via live stream on the township's website. The livestream is not interactive, and residents will not be able to participate in the meeting in this format.
