“The program provides help, hope, and a safe haven to our guests while they seek affordable housing,” the nonprofit says on its website. “We mobilize existing community resources, including county social services and volunteers from local faith communities, as well as our own staff to achieve this mission.”
It began in 1996 with a small group of residents from religious communities trying to help alleviate issues of homelessness in Burlington County.

They incorporated as Interfaith Hospitality Network of Burlington County in 1997, helped its first guests in 1998, and became Family Promise in 2003.
Since 1997, Family Promise has provided emergency shelter for 445 families and more than 900 children. This year, they added a program that helps families at risk of eviction stay in their homes.
It is currently raising money to help buy an apartment building to help families transition to permanent housing.
Chimney Rustic Ales, located at 15 Horton Street in Hammonton, is brewing "Hefe against Homelessness" the night of the event. One dollar from every sale will be donated to Family Promise. They will also sell merchandise from Family Promise, and will accept direct donations by cash or check only.
“Please join us for a night of fun and good beer to benefit a great organization that provides a vital service to our community,” Chimney Rustic Ales said in its announcement on social media.
Family Promise is located inside the Community House of Moorestown, 16 East Main Street. For a list of services offered by Family Promise, click here.
