Suspect in Carjacking Arrested in Florida
Suspect shot and carjacked a 61-year-old man in Trenton in August and abandoned him in the trunk of his car in Moorestown.
A Trenton man was arrested in Jacksonville, FL, Monday for and abandoning him in the trunk of a car in Moorestown.
The U.S. Marshals Service's New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force captured 34-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Garrett Jr., according to the Burlington County Times.
Garrett is accused of carjacking a 61-year-old Trenton man early the morning of Aug. 23. According to Trenton Police, Garrett pulled the victim out of his car and pistol-whipped him. During the beating, the Garrett’s gun went off, striking the elderly man in the head.
Garrett threw the man in the trunk and drove to Hamilton, Mercer County, where authorities say he shot a teller in the abdomen during a robbery at a JPMorgan Chase Bank, as reported in the Burlington County Times.

The suspect later abandoned the car behind the on Route 38 in Moorestown. The victim escaped from the trunk by pushing in the rear seats, according to , who responded to the scene after being flagged down by customers who found the man beside his car.
Both the carjacking victim and the bank teller survived.

Garrett is being held in Florida pending extradition to New Jersey.
