Woman Who Left Moving Ambulance On Highway In BurlCo Dies: Officials

She was seriously injured after exiting out the back of an ambulance that was driving up I-295, authorities said.

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — A woman who got out of a moving ambulance on the highway earlier this month has succumbed to her injuries.

The woman was seriously injured after exiting the rear of an ambulance and falling onto the roadway April 4 on Interstate 295 in Mount Laurel, officials said. The state's fatal-crash database now shows that the incident was deadly.

The 37-year-old Sewell resident was a rear passenger in the vehicle. She was hospitalized after the incident, according to State Police.

Her name has been withheld, and it's unclear when she died. It's also unclear how or why she got out of the ambulance.

A State Police spokesperson did not have any new information available since the day of the incident, which shut down I-295 North and caused massive traffic jams.
