33rd Annual Morris Plains Memorial Day Parade Set For 2019

The Grand Marshal for 2019 is the Honorable Mayor Frank Druetzler​, who retired after 32 years as the Mayor of Morris Plains.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — The annual Morris Plains Memorial Day Parade is back for 2019, now in its 33rd year.

The parade will take place on Saturday, May 25 and will start with a service at Robert's Garden (corner of Glenbrook Road and Mountain Way). The service will be conducted by the Morris Plains VFW Watnong Post 3401 and Denville American Legion Post 390, and Robert “Chip” Leiher from VFW Post #3401 will be the guest speaker.

The parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. from that same intersection. It will travel south on Mountain Way, east on Rosedale Ave, then north along Speedwell Avenue, past the reviewing stand at the corner of Franklin Place, opposite the railroad station, and continue north up Littleton Road to Route 53 north where it will end at the VFW Watnong Post #3401.

Thirteen local bands and 88 local organization units will march in the parade. The flyover of a KC-130T transport plane is anticipated to take place around 10:30 a.m., over the reviewing stand (that will be confirmed the day before the parade).

The Golden Gup and Lulu will play patriotic tunes and Korean War Veteran Dudley Werner, and Mickey and Minnie Mouse will accompany them.
