Child Predator Guilty, Attempted To Lure Kids To Morris County

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Clifton man was found guilty last week after attempting to lure children to a Boonton Township location with the intent to engage in sexual intercourse with them, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Brian Stewart, 42, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, attempted endangering the welfare of a child, and four counts of attempted aggravated sexual assault. A jury found him guilty on May 23 following a three-day trial.

In March of 2024, officials from the Boonton Township Police Department opened an investigation after receiving a tip regarding child exploitation on the internet.

The investigation revealed that Stewart had been having sexual conversations on KIK Messenger under the username “Brian Being Brian,” with individuals he “reasonably believed to be children.” He then tried to lure those children to a public meeting place to have sexual intercourse.

Stewart is scheduled for sentencing on July 25.

He will be subject to the No Early Release Act, making him ineligible for parole until he has served 85 percent of his sentence, officials said. Additionally, under Meghan’s Law, Stewart will be a registered sex offender upon release and will be under parole supervision for life.
