MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — Officials identified the driver who died after crashing into a tree Tuesday morning as a 65-year-old Morris Plains man. The <a href="https://patch.com/new-jersey/morris/driver-dies-after-striking-tree-morris-plains-tuesday-police">one-vehicle crash</a> happened as driver John McTernan was traveling south on Littleton Road (Route 202) and struck a tree near Totten Way at around 10 a.m, police said. First responders transported McTernan to Morristown Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities. He was the only person in the vehicle. Police are not releasing the crash report at this time, and the incident is still under investigation.
