Driver Charged, Passenger Injured After Morris Township Crash
Ryan Doherty, 21, of Chatham has been charged with assault by auto after a passenger in his car was seriously injured in a late-night crash.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Morris County man has been charged with assault by auto after a passenger in his car was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash Thursday night in Morris Township, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday.
The passenger, who has not been publicly named, was brought to a local hospital to be treated following the 10:30 p.m. crash, police said.
The driver, Ryan Doherty, 21, of Chatham, was arrested and brought to the Morris County jail, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Doherty was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, authorities said.
According to authorities, the driver crashed on Spring Valley Road in Morris Township but continued until the vehicle "came to a rest" at the intersection of South and Pine streets in Morristown.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
