Man Charged In Connection With Morris Plains Store Burglary
The 27-year-old is accused of stealing a safe containing $30,000-$40,000 from a Morris Plains convenience store, according to police.
MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — A New York man was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with a Feb. 1 incident in which it is believed he stole a safe from the Liberty Gas convenience store, according to police.
Ravon Service, 27, is accused of breaking into the store and removing one safe that contained $30,000-$40,000 dollars, cartons of cigarettes, and a cash register till, according to Morris Plains Borough Chief Michael M. Koroski.
Service then attempted to remove a second safe but was unsuccessful, Koroski said.

On Feb. 1, at around 4:58 a.m., police responded to the Liberty Gas and Convenience Store, located at 1799 Route 10 East, for an audible alarm activation, police said.
After an initial investigation, several attempts were made to locate and apprehend Service, which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued, according to Koroski.

The New York City Police Department then notified police on June 30 that Service had been apprehended and was being held at Riker's Correctional Facility pending extradition, police said.
According to Koroski, on July 6, Service was moved from Riker's Correctional Facility to the Morris County Correctional Facility, and on July 7, he was released by the court on pre-trial monitoring under Criminal Justice Reform.
Service was charged with third-degree burglary, three counts of third and fourth-degree theft by unlawful taking, and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
