Strides for Education 5K Raises Record Amount for Morris Plains Schools
The annual community-wide event celebrated its 10th year by raising more than $15,000 for teacher grants.
More than $15,000 was raised for teacher grants in the 10th annual Strides for Education 5K Run/Walk on October 26.
Sponsored by the Education Foundation of Morris Plains (EFMP), the event attracts all skill levels from serious runners to walkers. Community groups vie for the "Biggest" and "Most Spirited" team awards. The 2025 event attracted nearly 300 participants to the certified course on the fast, flat streets of Downtown Morris Plains.
The all-volunteer EFMP funds teacher grants for programs that exemplify innovation in education. Past grants have included a state-of-the-art digital communications studio for Borough School Students, equipment for an outdoor classroom at Mountain Way, a dance artist residency, a 3D printer and more. The EFMP has raised more than $165,000 for the Morris Plains School District since it began in 2010.
