Threat Puts Morris Schools On Edge
Police found a backpack full of ammunition near Frelinghuysen Middle School.

A backpack full of ammunition was found near a middle school in Morris, according to Superintendent Mackey Pendergrast. Police are investigating who left the sack, among other questions, at Veteran’s Field on West Hanover Avenue near Frelinghuysen Middle School.
No direct threat was received by Frelinghuysen or any other school in the Morris School District, but Pendergrast reports that safety measures are being implemented at all schools. An extra officer will be placed at the Frelinghuysen Middle School all week in addition to increased patrols at all district schools.
Superintendent Pendergrast and the Morris Township Police Department have not yet returned calls for comment. This case is still under investigation, so anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at (973) 539-0777.
