Annual Coat Giveaway To Return To Morristown

MORRISTOWN, NJ — As we head into fall and temperatures drop, a local nonprofit is once again taking steps to make sure the underprivileged are kept warm.

On Nov. 1, Market Street Mission will be bringing back its annual Coat Giveaway event on the Morristown Green. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the charity will be handing out not only coats, but also hats, gloves, and other winter accessories to keep residents warm.

The organization will offer several sizes of men’s, women's, and children’s winter clothes. Anyone is welcome to attend the giveaway and take a look at what the mission has to offer.

“It’s important for everyone to have a warm winter coat in this New Jersey winter weather,” says Debbie McKenna, Market Street Mission’s Volunteer and Events Manager. “Our team of volunteers looks forward to caring for our guests, helping each person choose the coat that’s right for them. This event is a great way to connect with and care for our community, year after year.”

The event is made possible by several volunteers who work the event, including some who are bilingual. Those looking to lend a hand during the event can sign up as a volunteer online here.

Also making the event possible are the several local businesses and organizations that collect the items throughout the year. All coats, scarves, gloves, and hats that are donated to Market Street Mission are given to those in need.

In the event of inclement weather, the giveaway will be held at the Market Street Mission’s headquarters at 9 Market Street in Morristown.

Those who cannot make the event this Saturday, don’t worry. There will be two more giveaways on Nov. 15 at Market Street Mission’s Jersey Shore location at 701 Memorial Drive in Asbury Park and the mission’s Good Shepherd location at 336 Broadway in Paterson.
