Man Killed Father With Axe, Saw On Christmas Eve: Report
Police found a 61-year-old man dead while responding to an emergency call at the house the father and son shared, officials said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County man charged with murdering his father on Christmas Eve used both an axe and a battery-powered saw in the killing, according to the latest reports.
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Boonton police officers were dispatched to a home on Old Denville Road in Boonton Township in response to an emergency call at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, and when they arrived, they found Gregory Meyer, 61, dead.
Investigators determined his son, Kyle Meyer, 33, was a suspect, and he was detained in Paterson at around 9 p.m., Carroll said.

Meyer has been charged with murder and weapons violations. He is being held in the Morris County jail for a detention hearing.
According to reports from NJ Advance Media, Gregory Meyer was found in the basement with injuries to his left leg, head, fingers and hands. An axe and a pole saw were found nearby.

The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to examine Gregory Meyer's body, according to Carroll.
The investigation "remains active and ongoing," and investigators "are not seeking an additional suspects," he stated in a news release, adding that "there is no danger to the public."
