Beam Me Up: Star Trek Comes To Morris County
Morris County Library celebrates 50 years of Star Trek.

The adventures of Captain Kirk are coming to a library near you--in fact, there's one right here in Morris County. The Morris County Library is jumping on board with Star Trek celebrations around the world in order to honor 50 years this month of Gene Roddenberry's space western.
Roddenberry, a screenwriter and producer, marketed his sci-fi pilot 50 years ago as a western set in outer space. The adventurous tales of Captain Kirk, Spock, and the rest of their team made it through one season on television before its network, NBC, almost pulled the plug citing low tail-end season ratings. Mega-fans clamored for more and the cult classic has morphed and evolved and become, 50 years later, a mainstay in modern culture with its latest rendition on the verge of appearing back on the small screen.
The Morris County Library will join the celebration as Star Trek turns 50 this month with a free twin-bill for big fans of the timeless, and reinvented, classic.
