‘Big Beautiful Bill’ Passed: See How Morris Co. Representatives Voted

'The Big Beautiful Bill' was passed Thursday afternoon, and Morris County representatives are split on the proposed legislation.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — The Trump Administration’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, also known as the "Big Beautiful Bill,” has officially passed.

The Big Beautiful Bill is expected to be adopted once it is presented to President Donald Trump. Once passed, there will be several cuts to taxes and programs, including Medicaid.

The bill is expected to save the average NJ family $9,400 and $16,400 in take-home pay, according to the White House. In contrast, over 10 million U.S. citizens are expected to lose health care coverage as a result.

In Morris County, Kean represents Chester Borough, Chester Township, Long Hill Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township (part; also 11th), Mine Hill Township, Mount Arlington, Mount Olive Township, Netcong, Roxbury, Washington Township, and Wharton.

Kean calls the passage of the bill “a crucial step toward a stronger, more secure future for the next generation.”

“We made significant progress on key priorities like securing the border, unleashing American energy and advancement, and strengthening national security—all while cutting wasteful spending, advancing affordability, and making the federal government both more efficient and more accountable,” Kean said in a Facebook post. “Once President Trump signs this bill into law, life will become more affordable for residents of New Jersey’s Seventh District. They will see immediate tax relief, greater transparency from Washington, and more support for innovation. This is a crucial step toward a stronger, more secure future for the next generation.”

Also representing Morris County is Democrat gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill.

Sherrill represents the 11th District, consisting of Boonton, Boonton Township, Butler, Chatham Borough, Chatham Township, Denville Township, Dover, East Hanover, Florham Park, Hanover Township, Harding Township, Jefferson Township, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Madison, Mendham Township (part; also 7th), Montville, Morris Plains, Morris Township, Morristown, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany–Troy Hills, Pequannock Township, Randolph, Riverdale, Rockaway, Rockaway Township, and Victory Gardens.

The gubernatorial candidate voted against the bill and called it “a piece of trash.”

“Today, I voted no on the Republican Price Hike Bill. This cruel piece of legislation will kick hundreds of thousands of New Jerseyans off their healthcare and raise costs for even more, cut food assistance for working families, and increase the cost of utilities and mortgages,” Sherrill said in a statement. “At the same time, they are funneling New Jersey’s hard-earned tax dollars to Trump’s billionaire friends and donors.”
