Bomb Threat Against Morristown Police Station Ends In Arrest

Breaking: Police say the man making the threat did not have any weapons.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Rockaway man was charged after allegedly making a bomb threat against the Morristown police station, Morristown Lt. Stuart Greer said.

Edrick Martinez, 25, of Rockaway, was charged with creating a false public alarm and terroristic threats Tuesday afternoon, Greer said. Around 3 p.m., Martinez allegedly told another person that he was a member of a terrorist organization and had a bomb in his backpack to blow up the police station. That person then told police.

Greer said police found Martinez near the Morristown and Morris Township Library. He did not have a bomb or any other "threatening items" on him, according to Greer.

Martinez is being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility.

"At this time, there is no information to believe there is any threat to the public however citizens are reminded to always remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police," Greer said.
