MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morristown commuters may have experienced some difficulties getting around yesterday as the town was gridlocked due to an open casting call for Adam Sandler’s latest project.

Casting for "Happy Gilmore 2" began this month, with the search for extras taking place at the Plaza Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency in Morristown.

On Tuesday afternoon, police advised motorists to avoid the downtown area and side streets because of gridlock caused by the casting call, which attracted hundreds of people to Headquarters Plaza.

The long-awaited sequel to Sandler’s 1996 classic “Happy Gilmore” will start filming in September across Morris, Somerset, Essex, Bergen and Monmouth Counties.

The cast will feature real professional golfers and cameos, including Travis Kelce, as confirmed by Sandler in a recent interview. Extras will be compensated approximately $200 for their participation in the film.

“Travis has… He mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis,” Sandler said on the Tonight Show.

Netflix announced plans for the sequel earlier this summer, 27 years after the beloved 1996 golf comedy first premiered.

In the original film, Sandler plays Happy Gilmore, a hockey player with anger management issues who discovers he also has a talent for golf.

"It’s currently unclear how the film will resurrect Gilmore’s golf career, but one thing’s for sure: In the real world, at least, Happy Gilmore is a legend. Even the world’s best golfers agree," Netflix officials said.
