Check Out The Morris Proper: Morristown’s Newest Eatery

The establishment prides itself on locally sourced, New Jersey ingredients.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — A new restaurant has made its way into Morristown, and it’s priding itself on being “more than a restaurant,” but a “return to what matters.”

The restaurant, which opened its doors on Wednesday, July 9, is located at 100 Morris Street, on the ground floor of M Station West between the Morristown Green and the train station.

Visitors are greeted with natural lighting from large, open windows, shining down onto the establishment’s retro tiled floors. Diners can view the open kitchen and observe the indoor plants and smooth, granite bartop.

“The Morris Proper is more than a restaurant—it’s a return to what matters,” a statement read. “It’s where neighbors meet and stories are shared, where local ingredients shine with pride, where design and art reflect the spirit of the region, and where everyone has a seat at the table.”

The kitchen is run by award-winning chef David Felton, who was recognized as People's Best New Chef by "Food & Wine Magazine” in 2011.

According to the restaurant, the food prides itself on its New Jersey-sourced ingredients, both from our farms and our waters.

“At The Morris Proper, we believe comfort and excellence are not opposites—they're partners,” its website reads. “We focus on refining the familiar through exceptional execution, thoughtful sourcing, and the bounty of New Jersey’s farms and waters. The core of our menu is honest, comforting food made properly. It’s food that brings people together—and keeps them coming back to the table.”

The establishment offers both a lunch and dinner menu. The lunch menu features items like the Black Angus Wagyu Bottom Sirloin, served with chimichurri and rosemary garlic fries, and the Jumbo Asparagus A La Plancha, with pistachio, basil, and aged provolone.

The dinner menu includes the Linguini with local clams, parsley, garlic, and butter, as well as the Lamb Leg, with aromatic spices, mint, labneh, and chickpea crepe.

There is also an extensive bar menu, featuring a wide selection of cocktails, wines, and draft beers, some of which were brewed right in Morris County.

The restaurant will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m.
