Christmas Festival, Santa Claus Is Coming Back To Morristown
The much-anticipated holiday festival will begin with Santa's arrival on Dec. 1, transforming downtown into a festive winter wonderland.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — With Thanksgiving upon us, the Morristown Green is set to be transformed into a festive winter wonderland once again.
The much-anticipated Morristown Green Christmas Festival will kick off this year with Santa’s arrival on Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.
For over a century, generations of residents and visitors have gathered in downtown Morristown to enjoy the holiday festivities. The tradition began in 1913 when a small group of volunteers lit a single star atop one of the Green's trees.

Since then, the event has grown to include the Santa House, holiday music and crafts, ice sculpture demonstrations, and rides on a miniature train. This year, the Morristown Partnership, which is organizing the festival, has lined up a full slate of activities for all to enjoy.
Santa’s arrival will take place on the Morristown Green at East Park Place, coinciding with the "Countdown to the Lighting of the Green." The event will feature festive decorations, thousands of lights on the Green, and lamppost wreaths throughout the town.

In addition to the festive sights, the air will be filled with the sound of holiday carolers. Event sponsor Hyatt Regency Morristown will once again provide cookies, hot chocolate and hot apple cider to warm those gathered on Dec. 1.
Family activities, entertainment and visits with Santa, including photo opportunities, will take place each Saturday and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. throughout December, up until Dec. 22. Additional hours will be available on Fridays (Dec. 6, 13, and 20) from 3 to 8 p.m.
Activities are free to visitors, with the exception of a $15 fee for photos with Santa.
