County College of Morris Creates New Bi-Annual Artist Award
W. Carl Burger will be the first recipient of the newly created New Jersey Master Artist Award from the County College of Morris.

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J.– W. Carl Burger will be the first recipient of the newly created New Jersey Master Artist Award from the County College of Morris.
The award will be given bi-annually to recognize notable state artists "who have an extensive record of
exhibited mastery and service in the field of art and design," said Morris County Communications and Digital Media Manager Larry Ragonese.

“People tell me there’s a life and energy in my paintings that excites them, that they never tire of,” said Burger, who has 29 works on display. “That’s because I love it — the best part of painting is while actually doing it.”
Burger is a professor emeritus of art at Kean University and a former CCM adjunct professor.

His work has been displayed at the Lincoln Center, the National Academy of Design, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution, the Newark Museum, Montclair Museum, New
Jersey State Museum and the Morris Museum, according to Ragonese.
CCM President Anthony J. Iacono will present the award to Burger on Nov. 9 during the opening reception of his exhibition.
The ceremony is slated to run from 6-8 p.m., according to Ragonese.
It is free and open to the public, he added.
The exhibition will run through Jan. 20 at the Randolph campus, located at 214 Center Grove Road.
The hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 8 p.m., Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 11 a.m.– 2 p.m., Ragonese said.
