Deer Hunting At Morris County Parks Announced
Three county-owned properties will be closed on specific days over next three months for management program.

Dubbed the “White-tailed Deer Management Program,” the annual hunting season for culling deer by way of firearm is about to begin in Morris County, and three county-owned parks will host hunters on specific dates.
The commission announced Monday Black River County Park, Lewis Morris County Park, and Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area will be closed to the public on specified days in December, January, and February for the allowance of deer hunting.
On days not noted, the parks will be open to the general public.

Black River County Park in Chester Township, which includes Cooper Mill, Kay Environmental Center, Bamboo Brook Outdoor Education Center, and Wildwood Arboretum will be closed:
- Dec. 3, 10, 17
- Jan. 7, 14, 21, 28
- Feb. 4, 11
Lewis Morris County Park in Harding, Mendham, and Morris Townships will be closed on:

Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area in Kinnelon Borough, Boonton, and Montville Townships will be closed:

- Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29
- Feb. 5, 11
Hunters with special access permits are allowed and the program is designed as a deer population management tool, the commission said.
