Driver Caught, Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run In Morristown
A man from Morristown has been charged in connection with an alleged hit-and-run incident that killed a local pedestrian.
MORRISTOWN, NJ — A Morristown resident was charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Morristown this past weekend, police said on Monday.
Jermaine Edwards, 51, was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.
He is accused of hitting a local pedestrian with his vehicle on Saturday, Aug. 12, while the pedestrian was walking in the area of Lafayette Avenue and Lackawanna Place, police said.

Police arrived at the scene at approximately 9:01 p.m., where they determined that Edwards left the scene, leaving the pedestrian with fatal injuries in the roadway.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Edwards has since been taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing, Carroll said.
