Driver Dies After Medical Emergency On Morris County Highway

The 53-year-old man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, New Jersey State Police said.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A 53-year-old man died on Tuesday after having a medical episode while driving on Interstate 287, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Authorities said that they were called for medical assistance at about 5:10 p.m. near milepost 38 in Hanover Township in Morris County.

Once troopers arrived at the scene, the driver of a Chevy pickup truck, a man from Bernardsville, suffered a medical episode in the driver’s seat, Trooper Troy McNair, a State Police spokesman, said.

The man, who has not yet been identified by police, was ultimately brought to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Additional information about the incident was not available as of Wednesday morning, McNair said.
