Dump Truck Collides With NJ Transit Train, Causing Delays

No injuries were reported from the collision.

DOVER, NJ – A dump truck slammed into an NJ Transit train Wednesday afternoon while it sat at the station in Dover, causing major delays.

NJ Transit Officials say there were no injuries to passengers and crew, or to the occupants of the truck.

At approximately 3:42 p.m., Morris Essex Line train 6656, which was scheduled to depart Dover at 3:45p.m. and arrive in New York Penn Station at 5:06p.m., was stationary as it was loading passengers at the Dover station when it was struck by the truck at the South Morris Street grade crossing, adjacent to the station.

The truck took down support poles and signage and was not on the road leading to the crossover. More than a dozen first responders were around the scene, gathered behind the caution tape while Dover Police blocked off and detoured traffic through the already congested side streets.
