MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — We're almost through the month of June, which means Independence Day is right around the corner. Communities across Morris County are getting set up for their patriotic parades, fireworks displays, and festivals, and there are some 4th of July-related events this weekend to kick off the celebrations.
But there are some other ideas for summer fun this weekend if you don't fancy a fireworks show, including browsing at local farmers' markets, stopping by a popular carnival, or being in the audience for a Shakespearean comedy.
Here are a few ideas for something to do around Morris County this weekend, Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30.

Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's "As You Like It"
Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Outdoor Stage of Saint Elizabeth University (2 Convent Road, Morristown, NJ). Tickets are $40-45 (free for those under the age of 18) and the show runs through July 14.

Morris Plains Farmers Market
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 771 Speedwell Avenue, Morris Plains, NJ. (Open weekly until Oct. 12)
Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at Morris Plains Community Park, 51 Jim Fear Drive, Morris Plains. (Rain date is Sunday)
Running through Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Chubb Park, 290 W. Main St., Chester NJ.
Morristown Farmers Market
Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Spring and Morris Streets, Morristown, NJ. (Open weekly until Nov. 24)
(Rescheduled from last week) Sunday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mendham Borough Park gazebo, 19 Mountain Ave., Mendham, NJ
