A Hamilton Romance In Morris County

Morris County Tourism Bureau to offer the love story of Alexander Hamilton and Betsy Schuyler in October.

If you can't score matinee tickets to Lin-Manuel Miranda's runaway hit on Broadway, Hamilton, you can still get the scoop on Alexander Hamilton's life right here in Morris County. The Morris County Tourism Bureau will be showcasing the romance between Hamilton and Betsy Schuyler on Saturday, October 8.

“With the continuing interest in Alexander Hamilton generated by the Broadway play, and the popularity of the program this summer, we decided to do a repeat look at the romance between Hamilton and Betsy Schuyler,” said Leslie Bensley Executive Director of the Tourism Bureau. “I think Hamilton enthusiasts will find it very interesting.”

During the Revolutionary War, a young Alexander Hamilton, General George Washington’s aide-de-camp at the Ford Mansion, spent the winter and spring in Morristown. His future wife, Betsy Schuyler, was just around the corner, at the home of the Campfield family. Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, who are the conservators of the circa 1760 Schuyler-Hamilton House, will recount the tale of how they met, and how he won her affection.
