Holiday Lights, Festivals, And Celebrations Fill The Morristown Calendar

There are several local holiday celebrations slated for this month.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — With Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa festivities filling the December calendar, the problem may be deciding which events in Morristown to attend.

Outside these religious and cultural celebrations, there are plenty of holiday light shows, parades, fairs, and festivals to attend in Morristown. Here are some to consider:

Christmas Fest At Morristown Green

  • Where: The Morristown Green
  • When: Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 7 p.m. until Dec. 21st, as well as Fridays (5th, 12th, and 19th) from 3 to 8 pm.
  • What: “Decked out in holiday finery, the Morristown Green will become a wonderland of nostalgia during the month-long festival. Visits and photos with Santa, holiday crafts, ice sculpture demonstrations and rides on a miniature train will all return to delight the children while families bask in the glow of thousands of dazzling lights.”

Morristown Christmas Market

  • Where: Rauscher Hall, behind Assumption Church at 91 Maple Avenue in Morristown
  • When: Dec. 6, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Dec. 7, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • What: “At the Morristown Christmas Market, our mission is to spread joy and strengthen community spirit during the festive season. The Market showcases the talents of local artisans and crafters, offering unique gifts that give back. Every purchase supports two Morristown-based charities that carry out their meaningful work in Africa.”

GrinchCon 2025

  • Where: Downtown Morristown
  • When: Dec. 6, noon
  • What: This bar crawl/party is returning for its third year bigger and greener than ever, with thousands of Grinches expected to take part. "Our Youth, Their Future" Holiday Spectacular

  • Where: Morristown Town Hall, Senior Center, third floor
  • When: Dec. 14, 3 to 7 p.m.
  • What: “Morristown Town Hall for an afternoon packed with music, food, holiday activities, a Great Scott Magic Show performance, toy giveaways, and more.” Register online here.

Morristown Chanukah Experience

  • Where: Pioneer Park at HQ Plaza, 3 Speedwell Avenue in Morristown
  • When: Dec. 15, 4:30 to 6 p.m.
  • What: Indoor and outdoor activities including LEGO building, strolling entertainment, Chanukah crafts, music, and more. The night will end with the lighting of a grand LEGO menorah. Register online here.

As you plan your calendar, here are some key dates to consider:

  • Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers, and fried foods, begins at sundown on Dec. 14 and continues until sundown on Dec. 22. The dates vary every year.
  • Christmas, of course, is always Dec. 25.
  • Kwanzaa, a weeklong celebration primarily held in the United States to honor African heritage and African-American culture, is observed from Dec. 26-Jan. 1, culminating with gift-giving and a lavish feast. The dates of this holiday do not change.
