Junior League Refurbishes JBWS Safe House Space

The Junior League of Morristown just completed a project where the organization refurbished a common room in a safe house overseen by Jersey Battered Women's Service.

The announced it has completed a project with the to transform a common room into a new enjoyable, multipurpose space for residents healing from violence.

The refurbished room will be used by the residents of Arbour House, a JBWS safe house for victims of abuse and their children. The multipurpose room serves as a technology space, television and entertainment room, reading area and peaceful retreat location. Volunteer efforts and donations include new furniture, wallpaper installation, an area rug, additional storage space and accessories to bring the room all together.

“We are so appreciative of the JLM for sharing their time and talents to create a relaxing and healing environment for our clients,” remarks JBWS executive director Patty Sly. “Their efforts offer hope and dignity to those seeking protection from abuse. This is just one of many projects that the JLM has assisted us with over the years and we are grateful for our ongoing partnership.”

The JLM promotes volunteerism and developing women and is proud to have partnered with the JBWS on many events for over 30 years, including their annual vigil held in October, honoring those who have lost their lives to domestic violence.
