Lifelong Morristown Resident, Army Veteran Dies at 66

Daniel Johnston was a great-grandfather.

MORRISTOWN - Daniel “Danny” Johnston knew the Morristown area like the back of his hand.

The lifelong resident died recently surrounded by family at the age of 66.

Johnston served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971, and was active in the Denville American Legion and an auxiliary member of the Morris Plains VFW. He was also the manager of Duffields Hardware Store in Morris Plains and an expert roofer and sider.

In retirement, Johnston was an estate manager at Deer Meadow Farm in Bedminster, caring for rescued animals. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed building model airplanes.

He is survived by his wife, Adele, a son, three daughters and a step-daughter, along with 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
