MORRISTOWN, NJ — Market Street Mission, a local nonprofit that assists the homeless, the hungry, and those struggling with addiction across the state, has just named its new Chief Executive Officer.

Gordon Dahl, Market Street Mission’s Director of Retail for the last seven years, will now lead the faith-based nonprofit.

According to representatives, a nationwide search was conducted to replace long-time CEO G. David Scott. Market Street Mission officials said the ideal candidate had been “already on staff.”

As Director of Retail, Dahl oversaw the Mission’s thrift stores in Morristown and Asbury Park. Before his time with Market Street Mission, Dahl served as the VP of Marketing for a leading surgical equipment company.

“Gordon brings a deep spiritual maturity and a servant's heart as well as proven strategic leadership wherever he serves. He is well known for his relational care, integrity, and pursuit of excellence,” says Market Street Board Chair AJ Rice. “We are thrilled to have Gordon at the helm of Market Street Mission as we enter this next chapter and continue in our commitment to share the transforming love of Jesus with those who are struggling with addiction and brokenness.”

Dahl, like Market Street Mission, is also very faith-based and has been a leader at Christ the King Church in Dover for more than 25 years.

Market Street Mission was founded in 1889 and has been “changing the lives of those who are homeless, hungry, and struggling with addiction through the power of Christ and the extraordinary support of our community” since.

The nonprofit organization has held events to benefit the community for years. Next month, they will be working with Morristown resident Jaii Xander, who will attempt the Guinness World Record for the most underpants worn at one time. All donations collected by Xander during the feat will go towards Market Street Mission.
