MORRISTOWN, NJ — A young missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died "from a yet to be determined medical condition" while on assignment in Morris County, the church said.

Elder Mack Jared Chappell, 19, was serving in the New Jersey Morristown Mission, church spokesman Sam Penrod said in a statement. Chappell became unresponsive early Saturday morning, and later died, Penrod said.

"Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful," the church's statement said.
