Morris Arts Director Steps Down, Interim Director Announced
Tom Werder will step down from his role of Executive Director after 13 years.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The Executive Director for Morris Arts has stepped down after serving for more than a decade, Morris Arts representatives announced.
Tom Werder has served as the center’s executive director for 13 years. According to Morris Arts, his achievements included the expansion of arts education programs, the launch of an Arts in Health Initiative, successful navigation through the COVID-19 pandemic, and more.
“I didn’t just want to lead well—I wanted to leave well. And this moment is that culmination,” Werder said in a statement. “The values are embedded. The work ahead is growth, fundraising, and scale.”

Morris Arts, established in 1973, offers several programs, including arts education programs for children in grades K-12, arts in health programs, the creation of innovative community-building arts events, and more. The center is also known to put on concerts, public art exhibits, and other events.
“We thank Tom for his years of service and leadership,” said Stephen Aluotto, President of the Board. “He has played a significant role in shaping our recent history, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

The center has announced Patsy Clew, Morris Arts Finance Director, as the Interim Executive Director. Clew will serve as director as the arts center begins “a new strategic direction to continue evolving in response to the needs of the community and the broader arts landscape.”
