Morris Co. Man Smacks Teen With Bottle, Hospitalizes Him, Police Say

The suspect was an unwanted house guest, according to police.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A Morris County man was arrested this week after smacking a teenager over the head with a bottle, putting him in the hospital, police say.

On Monday, police were called to a home in Budd Lake on a report of a fight.

Police found that Jordy Vasquez, 18, of Denville, had hit a 15-year-old, referred to as J.M. by police, over the head with a bottle, authorities said.

Police said an investigation into the incident revealed that Vasquez was an unwanted guest at the residence. When J.M. asked him to leave, the fight broke out, according to authorities.

J.M. suffered a cut on the side of the head from being struck by the bottle and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.

Vasquez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

He was processed and released to await court proceedings.
