See The 15 Students Honored For Scholarship And Service By Morris Co. 200 Club

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Local high school seniors will be recognized for their academic excellence and service to the community at the upcoming 200 Club of Morris County scholarship awards.

To be eligible for the annual scholarship, students must serve in a Morris County branch of public safety, have a parent/guardian actively working as a first responder serving Morris County, or have a parent/guardian who has retired from doing so.

The 200 Club of Morris County will honor these 15 recipients at a ceremony on May 13, which the public is welcome to attend (admission is free).

The scholarship program began in 1981 to provide assistance to high school seniors going on to college, vocational school, or other post-high school education. The local 200 Club has awarded more than $2.5 million in scholarships since then, they said.

The Morris County branch is one of many 200 Clubs throughout the nation, and provides both emotional and financial support for first responders and their families. There are more than 800 members in the 200 Club of Morris County, according to the club website.

The awards ceremony will be at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy (500 West Hanover Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960) on Monday, May 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required. Refreshments will be served.

Here are this year's awardees, who will all receive a one-time $5,000 scholarship to further their education after high school:

• Aadi Gadekar, Morris County School of Technology
• Mythri Iyer, Montville Township High School
• Krish Jain, The Academy for Mathematics, Science & Engineering
• Rachel N. Knof, Pequannock Township High School
• Leonardo Mannino, Chatham High School
• Nitya Patel, Parsippany Hills High School
• Elvin Seethakunnan, Montville Township High School
• Ahil Tomy, Parsippany Hills High School
• Abigail Vetter, Morris County School of Technology
• Anna F. Vogas, Morristown High School
• Adam Z. White, Randolph High School
• Andrew Yao, Watchung Hills Regional High School

The winners were chosen from a pool of 96 applicants, and a committee from the 200 Club made the selection.

Each year, the 200 Club also recognizes first responders for their bravery and outstanding service at the Valor & Meritorious Awards Celebration. This year, 22 law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics were honored. Read about this year's recipients here.
