MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Results from Tuesday's election were still being counted as the clock approached midnight, but unofficial results suggest that four Republican Morris County officials will retain their seats.

Three Morris County Commissioners' seats were up for re-election, and so was the Judge of the Surrogate Court (who presides over wills, estates, guardianships, and trusts for residents).

All four of these current officeholders ran for re-election this year against challengers from the Democratic Party.

Here are the latest unofficial results for Morris County, according to the Morris Co. Clerk's Office (current office-holders are marked with "Inc." for "incumbent"):

  • John Krickus (Republican-Inc.): 134,744
  • Stephen H. Shaw (Republican-Inc.): 135,122
  • Justin Strickland (Democrat): 110,674
  • Jonathan Sackett (Democrat): 111,095
  • William "Bud" Ravitz (Democrat): 109,829

Morris County Judge of the Surrogate Court

  • Heather J. Darling (Republican-Inc.): 141,265
  • John N. Holly (Democrat): 109,282

All results are unofficial until certified by the county clerk.

Turnout was high this year for early voting in New Jersey and was expected to be robust across the nation on Tuesday, with a presidential race at the top of the ticket. Voters in the Garden State also have decisions to make for a new U.S. Senator, for their House representative, and in local races that affect their towns, public school districts, and counties.
