Morristown HS, Morristown Beard Scholar-Athletes Awarded Scholarships

17 Morris County seniors were honored with a total of $12,000 in college scholarships

High school scholar-athletes push themselves on the field and in the classroom. For 17 seniors in Morris County, they were recently awarded a total of $12,000 in college scholarships from NJSIAA.

Of the 17 is Morristown High School’s Ryan Brunnock, who received $1,000 and was sponsored by the NJ State Baseball Coaches Association.

Two more hailed from Morristown-Beard School: Allison Aiello, who received $2,500 and was sponsored by the New Jersey Devils and Mitchell Green, who received $500 and was sponsored by Dorf Media.

The New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) has honored almost 6,000 high school students with a total of more than $1 million in college scholarships since 1993. This year, NJSIAA gave $133,500 to more than 170 high school students in New Jersey.

  • Morristown High School – Ryan Brunnock – NJ State Baseball Coaches Association -  $1,000
  • Morristown-Beard School – Allison Aiello – New Jersey Devils - $2,500
  • Morristown-Beard School – Mitchell Green – Dorf Media - $500
  • Mount Olive High School –Akshatha Bhat – Morris County Secondary Schools ADs - $500
  • Parsippany High School – Michael McVea – Investors Savings Bank - $500
  • Pequannock Township High School – Michael Leva – Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference - $500
  • Randolph High School – Amanda Magadan – Staples - $1,000
  • Villa Walsh Academy – Christine Clark – Morris County Secondary Schools ADs - $500

Officials at each NJSIAA member high school can pick one senior student as their scholar-athlete of the year.  The scholarship money is donated by NJSIAA corporate sponsors and other organizations. Scholarships are awarded by random drawings.
