MORRISTOWN, NJ — A new ranking names Morristown Medical Center the best cardiac care provider in the state.

According to NJBIZ, the medical center’s impressive number of heart procedures in 2023 marks it as the best in New Jersey.

The ranking says Morristown Medical Center performed 6,906 cardiac procedures in 2023, including 1,360 open heart surgeries and 1,883 total Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) procedures.

Morristown Medical, operated by Atlantic Health Systems, treats an array of cardiac issues, including heart failure, Thoracic Aortic Disease, Arrhythmia, and more.

“Our cardiovascular care team is dedicated to using the latest technology, techniques, and clinical trials to transform the lives of our patients,” the medical center’s website reads.

NJBIZ’s rankings are based on NJ Department of Health data, tracking procedures including diagnostic tests, elective interventions, and emergency treatments.

Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center placed second with 5,868 cardiac procedures, and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital placed third with 3,380.

Some hospitals made the list without performing open-heart surgery throughout 2023, including Hackensack Meridian JFK University Medical Center and RWJBarnabas Health Community Medical Center.

The new ranking comes soon after Morristown Medical Center was considered one of the top two hospitals in the state, according to U.S. News and World Report.
