Morristown Medical Ranks High on National List

U.S. News & World Report ranked Morristown Medical Center as a top hospital nationwide for cardiology and heart surgery, gynecology, and geriatric for 2013-14.

This is the second year Morristown Medical made the list in the category for advanced cardiac and gynecologic care and the first time for the geriatrics category.

U.S. News evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties and in most specialties, it ranks the nation’s top 50 hospitals.

“A hospital that emerges from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of,” said Avery Comarow, U.S. News Health Rankings Editor. “Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance as among their region’s best. Just 3 percent of all hospitals earn a national ranking in any specialty.”

The rankings have been published at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals and will appear in print in the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2014 guidebook, available in bookstores and on newsstands August 27.

Morristown Medical is on a hot streak. Last month, the hospital was named “Hospital of the Year” by NJBIZ. This spring, Morristown Medical Center was ranked by physicians as the top hospital in the state for the third year in a row and voted the No.1 hospital in New Jersey for coronary surgery; treatment of breast cancer; prostate cancer and pediatric cancer; treatment of heart failure; hip and knee repair; and strokes, by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.
