Morristown National Historical Park Celebrates Centennial On August 25

Celebrate National Park Service's Centennial with cake and free admission this Thursday.

No doubt you've seen calls to celebrate National Historical Park's first 100 years in various forms and in myriad places all year long. REI has been showcasing gear like T-shirts and water bottles with the stamp of NHS's centennial. And with over 500 national parks and lands across the country, it's a little hard to miss the call of the wild.

Still, if you haven't heard, the centennial of the National Park Service is officially happening this Thursday. From August 25 to August 28, visitors can enjoy free admission at any of the parks. In addition, various locations will be holding their own special ceremonies to usher in the second round of a hundred years.

The Morristown National Historical Park, which honors the region where General Washington and the Continental army holed up for winter from December 1779 through June 1780, will celebrate the centennial at 2 PM this coming Thursday.
