MORRISTOWN, NJ — Coffee lovers, rejoice! The aromatic and rich aromas of Rey Sol's Colombian coffee will soon be available in Morristown.

The family-owned coffee shop will be moving to 140 Morris Street, which was the former location of Long John's, a beloved sandwich shop that closed down recently after serving the community for decades.

The team at Rey Sol told Patch that there is not a defined opening date but that the company expects to open doors in Morristown by next winter.

In 1966, Lisimaco Ramirez established Rey Sol Coffee Farms in Balboa Risaralda, Colombia and has dedicated his life to coffee since then. With his family, Ramirez said that he wishes to continue his legacy of bringing Alto del Rey's mountain coffee right to your cup here in New Jersey.

The family currently has one Rey Sol location in Ridgewood, making Morristown their first expansion project.

Rey Sol, which first opened in November 2020, offers a variety of classic coffee drinks such as espresso, Americano, cappuccinos, lattes and several signature drinks, such as a S'mores latte.

Alongside their drinks, the coffee shop also offers traditional Colombian bites, such as empanadas, which are a type of baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and filling and arepas, which are made of ground maize dough stuffed with a filling.

Rey Sol is passionate about cultivating and roasting 100 percent Colombian single-origin beans from their farm in Balboa, Risaralda. To create nuanced flavors, they use old-world techniques such as honey bees, free-range hens and citrus plants.

"Our workers are an extension of our family, treated with fairness, dignity, respect. For five generations, we have been doing it like this—the right way," the coffee shop said.
