NJ 'Counselor Of The County' Awards Recognize Morristown HS Employee
This award recognizes education professionals "who devote their careers to serving as advocates – and often lifesavers" for students.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — The New Jersey School Counselor Association honored a Morristown High School counselor at a recent award ceremony for her work advocating for students.
Monica Tate-Melendez was named the 2024 "Counselor of the County" for Morris at the NJSCA awards program on March 15, alongside fellow counselors from around the state. This is the 38th year for the NJSCA awards.
This award recognizes education professionals "who devote their careers to serving as advocates – and often lifesavers" for students while demonstrating a commitment to educating them in school and in life, the NJSCA said.

Candidates are selected at the county level after being nominated by colleagues, the NJSCA said. The top counselors are chosen for their ability to deliver a school counseling program focused on academic development, career counseling, and personal/social support.
The award also recognizes those who distinguish themselves "by proving to be leaders of systemic change, advocates for students, and collaborative professionals who seek the success of the 'whole' student in school and in life."
