Nuggets Sign Morristown Native Markus Howard To 2-Way Contract
The former Marquette star saw his playing time increase during the playoffs after playing sparingly as a rookie last season.

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Markus Howard, the Morristown native who played sparingly in his first NBA season with the Denver Nuggets, has been signed to a two-way contract, the team announced on Sunday.
Howard, who went undrafted after a stellar college career at Marquette, averaged 2.8 points and 5.5 minutes per game last year with the Nuggets. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound guard appeared in 37 games and made one start with Denver last season. He also played in nine playoff games for the Nuggets and averaged 4.7 points per game and saw his time on the floor increase to almost 13 minutes in the postseason when he shot 42.3 percent from 3-point range.

Howard was the nation’s top scorer as a senior at Marquette, where he averaged 27.8 points per game and shot 41.2 percent from 3-point range in a season when he finished as a consensus first-team All-American.

Howard spent last season on a two-way contract with the Nuggets, which includes a partial guarantee of $50,000 for the 2021-22 season. Howard has been part of the Nuggets Summer League squad, which plays its final game in Las Vegas on Monday.
